Fresh, 20^th Century Pears

The most sought-after pear in Japan, this variety has achieved the status of “special gift” when given to family, friends and business associates. Round like an apple, these premium, mild-flavored pears are crisp, sweet and incredibly juicy. Grown exclusively in the Pacific Northwest, our 20^th Century Japanese Pears are cultivated and harvested with intensive hand labor and picked at perfect ripeness.

Perfect for snacks and salads

Protected while growing, carefully picked and packed for you.

Moderately-sized 20^th Century Pears are very round and smooth, with a thin, yellow skin that is almost translucent. While the fruit is forming, a protective bag is placed around each pear on the tree. When ready for harvest, each pear is hand-picked and packaged in a protective “sock” to prevent bruising. Pears are hand-packed into a special box and shipped quickly to you at the peak of flavor.

Serving suggestions

20^th Century Japanese Pears are excellent sliced for fresh eating. The crisp flesh adds flavor and crunch to green salads and compliments cheese platters, pairing well with Swiss, Camembert or Stilton cheeses. Julienne and add to coleslaw or wraps, slice and add to grilled cheese sandwiches. These pears retain their shape and flavor when cooked, so they’re ideal for canning and baking whole.

Your order includes twelve fresh 20^th Century Japanese Pears individually wrapped in tissue and hand-packed into a beautiful Dragonberry gift box. Orders placed from September 10 through October 9 will be shipped fresh 20^th Century Japanese Pears in mid-October as the first fruit in a 3, 6 or 12 month fruit program.
