Fresh, Red Flesh Dragonfruit
Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya or the strawberry pear, is a sweet and crunchy tropical fruit with a mild taste somewhat like a cross between kiwi and pear. The red-flesh dragon fruit enhances the exotic appearance with a deep red flesh inside a bright pink rind. Dragon fruit blossoms from a night-blooming cactus that grows in Central America and southeast Asia.
Easy to prepare and enjoy
Peel, scoop and eat; or add to your favorite dishes
Though it may look daunting, cutting and preparing this exotic fruit is easy. Eat only the soft interior flesh, not the hard rind. Slice it in half and scoop out the red flesh, or peel the rind off and chop or cube the fruit. Dragon fruit has a mild flavor which can be enhanced with a little salt or lemon. It’s a healthy snack on its own, or add to smoothies, desserts and salads.

Serving suggestions
Slice open and use a spoon to scoop out the fruit. Blend into a smoothie, slice into a fruit salad, or garnish a garden salad. Mix cottage cheese, dragon fruit, and berries for a light lunch. For an exotic party dish—slice in half, remove and cube the fruit and return it to the skin so the colorful rind is the serving dish!

Keep your dragon fruit fresh
Ripe dragon fruit can stay out for a few days. To store it longer, place it in a sealed plastic bag to protect from odors and refrigerate.

Orders placed from March 10 through April 9 will be shipped red fleshed dragon fruit in mid-May as the first fruit in a 3, 6 or 12 month fruit program.
